(Aditya Shaw, Intern Journalist): For astronomers and skywatchers, the night sky from November 17 to November 19 will be a sight to behold. Actually, this month there are two Meteor Shower i.e. meteorites rain, one of which is going to be Leonid Meteor Shower these days. Astronomers are very excited about the stars falling from the sky, which are going to create amazing views.
Leonid has been activated in the first week of November and will continue later this month. They come from Comet 55P / Tempel-Tuttle and a large number of falling stars illuminate the sky for centuries. Sometimes hundreds of stars can be seen in an hour. However, the American Meteor Society (AMS) says that it is difficult for us to see such heavy rains in our lives. It may be that in the year 2030, it will get a lot of rain.
After midnight on 17 November in India, they can be seen when the sky is clear. However, it would be difficult to see them in cloudy or high light conditions. There is a possibility of seeing more stars than lying on the ground. They can be seen by coming from the direction of the constellation Leo.
Meteorites are only part of the asteroid. When an asteroid breaks due to some reason, a small piece of it gets separated from them, which is called a meteoroid. When these meteorites reach close to the earth, they burn as they come in contact with the atmosphere and we see a light that looks like a shooting star, or a falling star, but they are not really stars. And they are also not comets.
Let us tell you that comets also revolve around the sun like Asteroids but they are not rocky but are made of dust and snow. When these comets move towards the sun, their snow and dust turn into vapor, which looks like a tail to us. The special thing is that the comet visible from the earth is really far away from us.
