(Satya Havilah, Intern Journalist) Dubai: The 84-year-old King of Bahrain Sheikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the world’s longest-serving prime minister, died on Wednesday. Khalifa, who had been suffering from Ana’s illness for some time, died while being treated at the Mayo Clinic in the United States, according to the Bahraini government’s news agency. In 2011, Shiites staged a large-scale uprising alleging that the caliph is involved in several corrupt activities abroad.
The caliph severely repressed these activists and was credited with maintaining his position. He is the richest. He used to hold meetings with foreign delegates, especially on his island. He was born into the Al Khalifa dynasty that has ruled Bahrain for more than 200 years.
