(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Kolkata: Kolkata Police will now take strict action against those who do not wear helmets. Under this, the ‘No Helmet No Petrol Rule’ rule is being implemented from 8 December. Following this rule of Kolkata Police, if a motorcycle rider goes to fill petrol without a helmet, petrol pumps, then he will not be given petrol under the ‘No helmet, no petrol’ rule. Please tell here that this system was there earlier and now Kolkata Police is going to implement it again.
Kolkata Police Commissioner Anuj Sharma said in an order issued on Friday, “It has been found that on many occasions people driving two-wheelers or sitting behind do not wear helmets and violation of rules has increased on many levels.” Earlier in July 2016, after Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed displeasure with the bike riders for not wearing helmets, the city police implemented a similar rule ‘no helmet, no petrol’.
