(Pooja Dubey, Intern journalist) The second-generation Creta of Hyundai Motor India is becoming increasingly popular in India. The popularity of this SUV car did not decline even during the lockdown period. Hyundai has announced that Creta’s bookings have crossed the 45,000 marks.
This SUV of South Korean company is very much liked by the customers. The company is describing the tremendous booking of Creta as its success as the SUV was launched just before the lockdown was implemented in the country. The Creta was launched at the Auto Expo 2020 held in February. After which it started selling from 16 March. Hyundai India had already acquired 14,000 pre-bookings for the second generation Creta and in May the company had already received 20,000 bookings. The next 10,000 bookings came in June. At the same time, more than 5000 bookings of this Creta have been made in the 14 days of July.
The company has said that “the diesel variant of the Creta accounts for about 55 per cent of the total sales, while the remaining 45 percent was sold by petrol models. These figures give a contrast to the move of the auto industry to move away from diesel. Due to the continuous increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, the price of diesel in New Delhi has exceeded petrol. But looking at the demand for Creta diesel, it shows that the compact SUV segment still retains a strong attraction for diesel.”
Creta was first launched in 2015 and is a major contributor to Hyundai’s sales performance in India. After launching, it was introduced in the facelift version and was launched earlier this year with major updates. The front look and taillights of the 2020 Creta have been redesigned. Along with this, the list of features offered in it is very long, which helps it to compete with new rivals like Kia. The new 2020 Creta offers over 50 connectivity features.
The new Hyundai Creta Second Generation SUV has priced between Rs 9.99 lakh and Rs 17.20 lakh. The new Hyundai Creta competes with the SUV MG Hector, Tata Harrier, and Jeep Compass.
