(Sandhya Jha, Intern Journalist): Mumbai. The political stir has again intensified in Maharashtra amid the Corona crisis. On Monday, NCP chief Sharad Pawar met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. After this, Pawar reached Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s residence Matoshree for a meeting. There was a meeting between Pawar, Uddhav, and Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut. After the discussion of Pawar first with the Governor and then Uddhav, there has been political upheaval in the state. This meeting between the three leaders was also important because the NCP chief reached Matoshree after many years. Earlier, he had gone to Matoshree during Baba Saheb Thackeray’s time.
Politics not discussed with Governor: Praful Patel
Pawar also met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari. During this time NCP leader Praful Patel was also with Pawar. After coming out of meeting for about 20 minutes, Patel told that we came here on the invitation of the Governor. There was no political discussion.
Government in strong position: Raut
Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut tweeted on Tuesday – Opposition parties have called for Maharashtra government to boycott. I want to say that the opponents should go to Quarantine. All attempts to destabilize the Maharashtra government will be thwarted. Jai Maharashtra!
Sanjay Raut also tweeted, “Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray had a conversation for one and a half hours at Matoshree. Rumors of destabilizing the government are being blown out. The government is strong! Jai Maharashtra!”
BJP demands presidential rule
Meanwhile, former Maharashtra Chief Minister and BJP leader Narayan Rane also met Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Monday. He has demanded imposition of President’s rule in the state because of the prevailing situation. There have been several cases of an escalating confrontation between the Shiv Sena and the Governor over a few days. Whether it is the matter of Uddhav’s nomination or the matter of getting the exam done in Mumbai University. Now amidst reports of Coronavirus becoming uncontrolled, a political rumor has also started that the Center can take control of the state by imposing President’s rule here.
