(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) Rajasthan: The best option is to conduct a strength test in the assembly to prove its majority with the Ashok Gehlot government of Rajasthan. The Supreme Court has refused to stay the hearing of the Rajasthan High Court. At the same time, in the hearing held in the High Court on Friday, the court ordered to maintain the status .Speaker CP Joshi cannot disqualify rebel MLAs including Sachin Pilot.
Meanwhile, two party strategists who are aware of the developments say that one section of the party is alert to Joshi’s decision to go to the Supreme Court to stay the High Court proceedings. He said on the condition of anonymity that since the court has stayed the speaker’s decision, Gehlot has a better option to prove his majority in the assembly quickly.
Gehlot has the support of 101 MLAs in the 200-member Assembly. At the same time, Congress has 18 and three independent MLAs along with Pilot, that is, they have the support of a total of 22 MLAs. On the other hand, the BJP and its partner National Democratic Party have 75 seats.
Bhanwarlal Meghwal, a Congress MLA who is ill, is considered close to the pilot. If Pilot’s MLAs are added to the BJP, this number will increase to 97. In such a situation, if the three MLAs of the Gehlot camp join the pilot group, it can be difficult for the government and the BJP can bring a no confidence motion against the government.
