Malaria returned to Delhi, 6-year-old died

The first death was recorded on Tuesday after several years from malaria. According to Health Department officials, a six-year-old child living in JJ Colony of Madanpur Khadar died of malaria.

This child died in September. The death review committee was formed by the state government and the municipal corporation to find out the cause of death. According to Health Department officials, the cause of death of the child is malaria. It is also called meningitis. If the child was admitted earlier for treatment, he would have survived.

Health Department officials said that earlier in September 2016, a person living in Mandavali died in Safdarganj Hospital. For the last five years, there were no deaths from malaria in Delhi. According to the municipal corporation, 223 cases of malaria have been reported this year. No cases of malaria have been reported in the last week.

However, in the last one week, 49 new cases of dengue have been reported and this year the total number of patients has reached 950. After the death of a child from malaria in JJ Colony, the Municipal Corporation launched a campaign. During this time no one else was found infected. The Municipal Corporation says that the family had gone to Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh, during which the child was hit by fever.
