(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) The proposed sixth round of talks between the government and farmer unions on Wednesday hangs in the balance after a meeting between Home Minister Amit Shah and some farmer leaders failed on Tuesday night.
Although nothing has been officially saying about the government’s talks on Wednesday, some farmer leaders said after the meeting with Amit Shah that there was no question of joining the proposed meeting. These leaders said that the next step would be decided only after considering the written proposal of the government.
After the meeting that ended at around midnight on Tuesday, All India Kisan Sabha general secretary Hannan Mollah said, Shah Ji, said that the amendments the government is in favor of will be given in writing tomorrow. We will make a decision on joining the meeting after discussing with all 40 farmer unions about the written amendments.
Hannan Mollah said that there will be no meeting between the government and farmer organizations on Wednesday. The government is not ready to withdraw the agricultural legislation. The minister (Amit Shah) has said that the proposal will be made to the farmer leaders on Wednesday. On Wednesday, farmer leaders will hold a meeting regarding this proposal on the Singhu border.
