(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); MG Motor India (MG Motor India), which has been successful with entry into the Indian automobile market, is continuously strengthening its brand value in the mid-premium segment. The Indian portfolio of the automaker currently has three products – Hector (Hector), Hector Plus (Hector Plus), and eZS (EZS). All these cars cost above 10 lakhs. The company’s upcoming premium Gloster SUV will compete with Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavor. At the same time, the company is now preparing to enter the subcompact segment as well. The company is preparing to bring a new and low priced car in the Indian market, which will be launched soon. In this segment, this car of the company can prove to be a ‘superhit’ like Hector.
According to reports, recently MG Motor India Chairman and Managing Director Rajiv Chaba said that the brand’s next product will focus on the mass market, and will be cheaper than Hector. He also said that this recycled product will be introduced in 2021 next year. Given MG’s vision of introducing the SUV in the Indian market, it is believed that its cheapest product will be a crossover that is smaller than Hector. Given that the company showcased the ZS petrol version at the Auto Expo earlier this year, and has now started testing the car as well, it could be the new car that MG is referring to.
The electric ZS car already exists in the Indian market. Its size and shape make it a rival to SUVs like Hyundai Creta (Hyundai Creta) and Kia Seltos (Kia Celtos). A lot of cars are registered in this segment. Now that MG plans to bring its next car in the segment under Rs 10 lakh, it will be very interesting to see how the company will perform in this large market segment.
