A senior government official said on Tuesday that the state government has made 49 migrant workers a member of the ‘Covid-19 Warrior Club’ to help patients with the Coronavirus. He said that these laborers are from Veerbhum, Cooch Behar, East, and West Medinipur and Murshidabad and they are being given a monthly honorarium of Rs 15,000. He said, “The main job of these Covid-19 warriors is to encourage the patients by sharing the story of their recovery in the coronavirus ward in hospitals.
These individuals will also appraise their relatives of the people undergoing treatment. “The official said the migrant workers were trained for seven days before putting them to work, how to take safety measures while helping patients.” “They are offering non-medical services mainly through counseling,” the official said. They will also play a role in making patients, their relatives, and others aware of the epidemic. ”He said that these individuals have been trained in how to change oxygen cylinders, check blood pressure, body temperature. And some other basics have been trained for the treatment of patients.
All of them are housed at the Youth Hostel of Salt Lake Stadium. The official said that according to the state government’s plan, such clubs are being set up in every district.
