(Geetesh Ujjainwal, Intern Journalist) On Wednesday militants killed former district president of BJP Bandipore, Sheikh Waseem Bari along with his father and younger brother in the main town of Bandipore.
According to police, the militants attacked Waseem Bari at his shop at Muslimabad which is located near the police station. In this attack his father Bashir Ahmad and younger brother Umar were also injured, they were taken to the district hospital where they were declared brought dead. After the attack special operation was launched by the army to track down the terrorists.
Inspector general of police Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that the trio was at their shop when the attack happened. The family was assigned eight personal security officers (PSO’s) but during an attack, none of them were present since they were on the first floor of Waseem’s house while the shop was on the ground floor. 8 PSO’s have been arrested.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah said, “Sorry to hear about the murderous terror attack on the BJP functionaries & their father in Bandipore earlier this evening. I condemn the attack. My condolences to their families in this time of grief. Sadly the violent targeting of mainstream political workers continues unabated”.
