(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist) PubG along with 187 apps were banned in India. The new app ban was declared after a month of the ban on the 47 Chinese apps by the government. The new app ban comes after an over a month the government-imposed ban on the 47 Chinese app which also includes the famous TikTok app. The ban was imposed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the provisions of the Information technology (procedures of safeguard for access of information blocking by the public) Rules 2009. The apps are claimed to be prejudicial to the integrity and sovereignty of India.
The IT Ministry has released a press statement on Wednesday announcing the ban of the latest Chinese app in the country. The ban was imposed after receiving a large number of complaints from many sources which also include misuse of some mobile apps which are available on the Android and IOS platforms for stealing and surreptitiously transmitting the data of users in an unauthorized way to servers living outside India.
The Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre, Ministry of Home Affairs has also shared an exhaustive recommendation for blocking of malicious apps. Other concerns were also seen from similar bipartisan, which are detected by various public representatives, both outside and inside of the Indian Parliament.
