More Preparation needed to fight Corona: WHO warns India

Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): 6 months after the arrival of the corona epidemic, the World Health Organization has warned India about the disease. The WHO said that this epidemic is not likely to end soon. In such a situation, the rest of the countries including India need more preparation to deal with the corona infection. WHO said India also advised to continue efforts to keep the rate of corona infection low.

Dr. Poonam Khetarpal, Regional Director of South East Asia of the World Health Organization has said that the way Corona is present in the world. Looking at that, it does not seem that the corona epidemic will end soon. In such a situation, the Government of India and the State Governments need to strengthen and prepare for dealing with Corona. He said that this preparation will have to be continued until then. Until the corona vaccine arrives. She suggested that all countries should come together to reduce the corona infection rate in order to deal with these diseases. Also, attention has to be paid to reduce the death rate.

Dr. Khetrapal advised South East Asian countries including India to maintain public health measures, detect, test, trace, isolate, treat, hand hygiene, and social distance. Apart from this, maintain an emphasis on marking corona hotspots, isolating the affected, and treating them. He said that all countries should keep trying to strengthen the health system. In its assessment, the WHO found that the places where corona cases have decreased. Health services have already strengthened there. The number of tests at these places has been increased. Also, much attention has been paid to the treatment of patients.


The WHO also praised India’s preparedness to control Corona. According to WHO, there is a large population behind the increasing cases of corona in India. Despite this, the Indian government took action on time and along with increasing the number of tests, the emphasis was given on strengthening the health system. This is the reason why the conditions in India are better than in other countries today.
