Around 21 lakh migrants returned during this period. Statistics released by the Center show that more than one lakh workers in eight districts have returned to Bihar. More than one lakh migrants have returned in three districts of Rajasthan, two districts of Uttar Pradesh, and one district of Madhya Pradesh. These districts of the four states, including Bihar, have been selected under the Centre’s Poor Welfare Employment Campaign. The purpose of this list is to provide maximum employment to the workers of all these districts.

However, even before the commencement of the said campaign, the Bihar government started working to provide employment to the workers on a large scale. The central government has released the number of workers returned in 116 districts of six states. It consists of 32 districts of Bihar. Under this campaign, work for MNREGA, cleanliness, Panchayati raj, construction, agriculture, etc. has to be given for the next 125 days, which has also been started.
