(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): 40-year-old Payal Arora, who had her nose fractured, hair pulled, was bitten, and hit on her private parts by two people living in a nearby bungalow while two police constables were present at the spot is currently recuperating at home. As per the sources, the assault happened in broad daylight, in front of everybody, and in the presence of two police constables who were called by the victim.
The assailant harmed the victim’s eyes, kicked her, pulled her hair, scratched her face, kneed her in the neck and the nose, bit her on the face, hands, and chest. The assailants threatened that they will poison the dogs and cats who come to eat the food served by the victim. All of this while the victim’s sister who is a heart patient was physically restrained by the male constable Abba Raghunath Mali which gave the assailant the opportunity to touch her inappropriately.
Because she was held and under assault herself, she could not go to help out the victim. This was done just to give the woman assailant the time and the chance to inflict maximum physical injury on the victim. The victim and her sister were both assaulted and insulted. The victim has a medical report stating that she has human bite marks over her body and a nasal fracture.
Although the police from Versova Police Station did register a complaint against the assailant’s Anil Narayani and Tanya Anil Sharma, the assailant kept chanting that they are big-time movie makers and have political, police and other connections. Despite this, the victims believe that in time the police will bow down to the pressure and other tactics used by the assailants and will either dilute this case to the point where she won’t get justice or they will implicate her and her seriously ill sister by taking a cross FIR against them.
