Her mother Shyamala Gopala was born in Chennai and immigrated to the US to attend a doctoral program from UC Berkeley, Remembering her mother Harris said she would have been really proud and would have said go and Beat Trump.

Harris said that her mother who was a breast cancer researcher and died of cancer in 2009, raised us to live a life of service. And she would have look at the suffering right now, we would look at the denial of science right now.
