(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: The National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), the apex financial organization of the Union Ministry of Agriculture, approved the release of the first installment of Rs 19444 crore to the states of Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Telangana for the procurement of paddy in the Kharif season under the Minimum Support Price (MSP) process.
This amount has been sanctioned to help the States and the Marketing Federations of the States through their cooperative organizations in the process of procuring paddy in a time-bound manner. For Chhattisgarh, the highest i.e. Rs 9000 crores have been approved. Rs 5444 crore has been approved for Haryana and Rs 5500 crore for Telangana This step already taken by NCDC during the Kovid epidemic will provide much needed financial assistance to the farmers of these three states, which produce 75 percent of the total paddy production in the country.
This step, taken at the appropriate time, will enable the agencies of the states to start the procurement process immediately.
This will help the farmers to sell their produce at the minimum support price notified by the government.
The Managing Director of NCDC, Mr. Sandeep Naik, said that NCDC is also assisting other states in completing the MSP process to ensure that farmers get the best price for their produce in compliance with the call of Hon’ble Prime Minister and in the light of historical agricultural bills.
