Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a virtual meeting with the Chief Ministers of the worst-affected Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Punjab, Bihar, Gujarat, Telangana and Uttar Pradesh, amid growing Corona cases in the country. During this, PM Modi said that in states where the testing rate is low and where the positivity rate is high, there is a need to increase the testing. Especially in Bihar, Gujarat, UP, West Bengal and Telangana, this review has given special emphasis on increasing testing.
The meeting was attended by Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Tamil Nadu CM Palaniswamy, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Punjab CM Amarinder Singh, Telangana CM Chandrashekhar Rao, Maharashtra CM CM Uddhav Thackeray, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar joined. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh also attended this meeting. After the first lockdown was announced in March this year, Prime Minister Modi had several meetings with the chief ministers regarding the condition of corona virus.
In the meeting, the PM said that if we can identify the cases within 72 hours of onset, then these infections can be controlled to a great extent. Therefore, it is important that all people who come in contact with an infected person should be tested within 72 hours. “Our experience so far is that containment, contact tracing and surveillance are the most effective weapons against Corona,” he said.
On the rapid corona testing in the country, PM Modi said that the number of corona testing has increased to 7 lakhs every day and is continuously increasing. This is helping to identify and prevent infection, which we are seeing today. The average mortality rate in our country was much lower than before, it is a matter of satisfaction that it is continuously decreasing.
He said that today 80 percent of active cases are in these ten states, so the role of all these states is very big in the fight against Corona. Today, there have been more than 6 lakh active cases in the country, out of which most of these cases are in our ten states only.
Amidst all this, the number of people infected with corona in the country has increased to 22 lakh 68 thousand 676 and the number of dead has increased to 45,257. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry at 8 am, 53,601 new cases were reported during the last twenty four hours and 871 people died. A total of 15 lakh 83 thousand 490 patients have fully recovered and active cases remain at 6 lakh 39 thousand 929. The recovery rate of patients has increased to 69 percent.
