Aatmja Kumari(Intern Journalist): The Supreme Court has rejected the petition filed against conducting NEET and JEE examinations. With this, the examination has been approved. A bench of Justice Arun Mishra dismissed the petition seeking adjournment of the Medical Entrance Examination NEET and Engineering Entrance Examination JEE Mains.
Dismissing the petition, the Supreme Court bench asked whether everything in the country should be stopped? Why should a precious year be wasted like this? The petition demanded the postponement of the proposed JEE Mains and NEET UG examinations in September due to increasing cases of Covid-19 infection.
The case is being heard by a Supreme Court bench headed by Justice Arun Mishra. Please tell that the JEE exam is to be conducted from September 1 to September 6. At the same time, NEET exam is planned to be held on 13 September. 11 students from 11 states had filed a petition in the Supreme Court with a request to postpone this exam.
The petition had requested the cancellation of the July 3 notice of the National Examination Agency (NTA), referring to the corona virus epidemic. Through this notice, NTA has decided to conduct Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main, April, 2020 and National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) in September. In the petition, it was requested to instruct the authorities to conduct these examinations only after normalcy is restored.
Demand to postpone this examination has been going on since last month. In the first week of July, students across the country campaigned on social media with #rip nta. The students argue that at such a difficult time when the epidemic is at its peak, who will answer it if such an examination is conducted and their health will be adversely affected.
According to the students, when all the exams are either canceled or postponed, then why are JEE and NEET not being postponed. Let us know that on July 1, the parents of NEET candidates settled in Middle East countries have filed a petition in SC. The candidates sought the option of setting NEET exam centers in the Middle East countries or postponing the NEET in view of Covid 19. Let me tell you that before the Kerala High Court rejected his petition.
