(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): Ayodhya, the ancient city claimed by millions of Hindus to be Lord Ram’s birthplace, is in reality a small village near Kathmandu, said Nepal Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, in a remark likely to draw a response from Ram’s followers. He claimed that Lord Ram was in fact Nepali too.
Talking at his residence in a cultural event, Mr. Oli accused India of ethnic exploitation and encroachment and said that Nepal’s contribution to science has been undervalued. “We still believe we gave Sita to prince Ram but we gave the prince too, from Ayodhya, not India. Ayodhya is a village a little west (of) Birgunj. We have been oppressed a bit, culturally. Facts have encroached”, he said.
