(Bhagya Luxmi, Intern Journalist) After the announcement of the lockdown on every Saturday and Sunday throughout the state, the trouble of the liquor shop operators has increased. The first lockdown and now the ban of two days in a week has made them worried. Due to the problem of how the quota will be fulfilled, all the letters are reaching the Excise Department. Regarding this, the department is engaged in considering its policy afresh.
Due to the lockdown this year, liquor store operators did not get a chance to open shop in the new financial year from April 1. After a long wait, the shops were opened even if time was not available. Unlock provided a chance to open shop first from 10 am to 9 pm and later from 10 am to 10 pm. The everyday quota of shopkeepers is fixed. In the year they are unable to meet their quota, they have to go for the lottery again next year, while the shop gets renewed on completion of the quota.
District Excise Officer Sandeep Bihari said that all the shopkeepers have asked about this. The order is awaited from the headquarters.
