(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): There is no risk of corona infection spreading from newspapers and magazines. This has been proved by all the research and scientific studies done globally. Corona cases may have crossed 10 million, but no case has been found in the world of a person being infected by the newspaper. The World Health Organization has also confirmed this.
According to the WHO, the virus cannot survive on the surface of the newspaper. It has dismissed the news of someone being infected by touching or reading the newspaper. Actually, on social media numerous rumors are being circulated, posing a threat from infection with newspapers or other reading material. Over time, however, readers have stopped paying attention to such rumors.
The Center for Disease Control and Prevention, America’s largest health organization, also believes that the infection is not spread by carrying or touching a newspaper. It is noteworthy that in the fear of infection from the newspaper, people had stopped the entry of hawkers in housing societies in many cities. Hawkers were also being harassed from place to place. However, with the cooperation of the police and administration, this bottleneck has also gone away.
