‘Nisarg’ knocking after cyclonic storm

(Juhi Aishwary, Intern Journalist):  A cyclonic storm Nisarga is forming in the Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep. Due to this, there is a possibility of rain on Monday and Tuesday. Kerala State Disaster Management (KSDMA) has suspended all fishing activities in the wake of the storm. According to KSDMA, the coastal areas of Kerala, including Lakshadweep, can gust at speeds of 45-66 km/ph. KSDMA has announced Yellow Alert in 9 districts here. The storm is expected to hit the coastal border of Maharashtra and Gujarat next week.

The meteorological department warned, ‘There is a low-pressure area over the southeastern and adjoining east-central Arabian Sea and Lakshadweep region. It is likely to strengthen in the next 24 hours as pressure over the eastern central and adjoining southeast Arabian Sea, and then it may become stronger in the next 24 hours as a cyclonic storm. It is expected to move northwards and reach northern Maharashtra and Gujarat coasts by June 3.
