Jagriti Rai (intern journalist), New Delhi: Delhi deputy chief minister of National capital Manish Sisodia said on Tuesday that there is no chance of reopening of schools in Delhi. This announcement comes amid the wake of the alarming rise in the number of coronavirus cases in the region.
Speaking to a News Channel, The minister further stated that this decision has been taken as no parent would consider risking their children health.
In a virtual meeting with Prime minister Narendra Modi on the covid situation, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the high severity of the third wave of covid cases in the national capital is due to many factors with pollution being a significant one.
Kejriwal told that Delhi saw a peak of 8,600 covid infections on November 10 during the third wave. Delhi recovered 4,454 fresh covid cases and a positivity rate of 11.94% on Monday, while 121 more facilities pushed the death toll due to the diseases to 8,512 in the city. The daily number of deaths crossed the 100 marks in the national capital.
