(Harleen Kaur, Intern Journalist) The National Pension System (NPS) is a government-run investment scheme. Subscribers can either apply for an NPS account by visiting Point of Presence (PoP) or can do so online through the e-NPS website. Although it was started for government employees in 2004, later it was made accessible to the general public in 2009. NPS facilitates two types of accounts, Tier 1 and Tier 2.
Tier 1 NPS account is a pension account, Tier 2 account – known as an investment account.
