(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Kutch: A man from Kutch district in Gujarat was arrested on Sunday by the police for threatening the daughter of cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni on social media. A case was registered at Ratu Police Station in Ranchi, Jharkhand. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s team Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a 10-run defeat during the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Wednesday with an easy-looking target of 168 runs.
After the match, some of the CSK batsmen, including captain Dhoni, became a victim of criticism from the fans. Kedar Jadhav was the chief, who scored just seven runs off 12 balls. Some users also made embarrassing comments with Dhoni against his five-year-old daughter. The poor performance of the players has been seen trolling wives and girlfriends on social media, but this is the first time their children are also being targeted when the favorite team loses.
Some tweets and Facebook posts threatening Dhoni’s five-year-old daughter have surfaced. In many of these posts, Dhoni’s daughter has been threatened.
Here, security has been beefed up at his Simlia and Haramu residence after the threat of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, former captain of the Indian cricket team on social media. At the same time, Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) and former cricketers have condemned the incident and demanded the arrest of the convict.
Dhoni lives with family in Simlia and is currently busy with the Indian Premier League (IPL) in Dubai. The performance of Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the IPL has led to indecent remarks and threats against his daughter on social media. Ranchi Police has been alerted after the threat. In Simlia area, police officers have also given instructions to do more than before. After the order, Ratu police station in-charge Rajiv Ranjan Lal also took stock of the security of Dhoni’s farmhouse on Saturday. Apart from this, the static force has been deputed outside Dhoni’s house.
