(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist) Delhi; OP Dhankar, who was a Cabinet minister on the BJP government of Haryana, on Sunday appointed party’s state unit president.
With the appointment of Dhankar, BJP has continued the Jat Face, the dominant caste of the state.
In a statement of BJP, said Dhankar was appointed by party chief JP Nadda the Haryana unit head.
The appointment said to be done to keep a balance on the caste equation in the state, as the politics mostly revolves around the Jats and non-Jats.
The Chief Minister of Haryana Lal Khattar is also aa non-Jat.
Dhankar is to replace incumbent Subash Barla , who was a Jat.
Dhankar and Barala have lost the Assembly election of Haryana which has held in October last year. Dhankar was serving as a Cabinet Minister in the BJP government at Haryana.
The appointment was delayed for more than eight-month, as it was expected a new president to be appointed after the state assembly result announcement.
Dhankar has also served twice as the national president of the BJP Kissan Morcha
