The vaccine, named CHADOX1 NCOV-19, was tested on six Rhesus Macau monkeys. Tests in these monkeys will help to know how the vaccine may affect humans, as both have almost similar immune system. However, there is no guarantee that the results will be as good in humans.

The researchers reported that the monkeys infected with Covid-19 were divided into two groups. During this, those who were injected with the vaccine, their condition was better than others. Antibodies started to form in them within 14 days. This revealed that ‘CHADOX 1 NCOV-19’ had better results on Rhesus Macau monkeys.

Test done in America

US government’s National Institutes of Health (NIH) and Oxford University conducted the test in the US. This vaccine has been created by researchers from the Oxford Vaccine Group and the Jenner Institute in Oxford.

Vaccine trial is going on on humans too

Researchers at Oxford University have begun testing the vaccine on humans as well. This test is to be conducted in three stages. Once the first phase results are positive, further testing will be started. Research is currently underway on 100 vaccines worldwide.
