Afghanistan is engulfed in the civil war in South Asian countries topped with 4.5 children per couple. India is the second-most populous country in the world with a population of 14 million, but the fertility rate is 2.2. The fertility rate of Pakistan has doubled in 19.4 years with 3.6.
The report said that Afghanistan has a faster fertility rate than Pakistan, but due to high mortality and low life expectancy, the total population of the country still stands at 3.89 crore. The total population of Bangladesh, another South Asian country, is estimated at 16.98 crores in 2020 with an annual fertility rate of 2.3. Bangladesh is in third place followed by the Maldives in fourth place and India in fifth place. Nepal and Sri Lanka and Bhutan share the last place as fertility rates.
