Parks unlocked in Bihar, now turn to schools and colleges

(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Bihar has been unlocked since September 8 after a long wait. All establishments including Patna’s hotels, restaurants, malls, and shops have opened unconditionally. On Wednesday, all the parks including Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park of Patna have also been opened. Now it is the turn of educational institutions. Further, the government has also prepared to open schools-colleges in Bihar. The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for this. Union Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan has said that schools and colleges will be opened in a phased manner.

The park and Patna Zoo opened for two-three hours in the morning on Wednesday. On the first day, people were given entry after the thermal screening. People will be able to roam in the park from 5:30 am to 11:30 am and from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the evening. In Patna Zoo, people will only be able to roam from 5:30 am to 11:30 am. At the zoo, visitors will not be able to see the animals. Patna Gandhi Maidan has also been opened in the morning and evening. Hand sanitizers are to be used for entry into parks and zoos, etc. It is also mandatory to wear masks. Screening does not allow admission if symptoms of corona are found. Physical distance also has to be followed. Children aged 65 and under are advised not to enter.

The next phase of unlocking is now the turn of all educational institutions, including schools and colleges. These institutes are currently closed for students till 30 September. Meanwhile, students from ninth to 12th in schools outside the Containment Zone have been allowed to go to educational institutions from September 21 for guidance after parental approval. From the same day, up to 50 percent of teaching and non-teaching staff have been allowed for online classes or tele-counseling. From September 21, students have been allowed to attend National Skill Training and Industrial Training Institutes.
