(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Patna High Court News: Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the work of Patna High Court has been relaxed since March. The majority of people are dissatisfied with the ongoing court proceedings over video conferencing. The people involved in the legal complication are trialing, who have filed cases in the High Court, they do not know when the hearing will be held. The lawyer is troubled by the length of the proceedings. They often have to listen to the miseries of the victims. Clients feel that lawyers are teaching them upside down. Dozens of clients also withdraw their files from lawyers in misunderstanding. He feels that other lawyers are more influential.
There are about four to five hundred case files per day in the High Court, but the execution is not being done even 10 percent. More than 10,000 cases related to bail have been pending in court. The rest are civil cases. It is currently the case that the number of Bell cases filed in August and September is yet to be found. The speed of hearing of the case related to the writ is also going at a turtle pace.
It was the tradition in the High Court that the matter to be heard early was said to be urgent, after which the judges concerned used to hear on a priority basis, but now most cases are not given priority. The manner of hearing in haste has also changed. Now there is also trouble for the accused who have gone to jail for petty crime and have not been granted bail by the lower court. They too cannot be heard on a priority basis.
