(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist) Uttar Pradesh; Two more petitions were filed in the Supreme Court seeking a special investigation with a special investigation team for the encounter killing of Vikas Dubey by UP police.

One petition was filed against the advocate Anoop Prakash Awasthi second on People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL).

The allegation is pointing to the fake encounter of Vikas Dubey and co-accused, as the encounter by police has risen to many questions, such as whether they are “simple administrative liquidations.”

The petition filed by Awasthi leads to some serious question on whether quick justice to be given by police is allowed in a society of democracy governed with the rule of law, going past the criminal justice system.

The petition filed by the PUCL has focussed on many such incidents where the UP police get involved in huge encounters with impunity.

Awasthi stated that “the case at hand is a rough example of state anger and state terrorism.”

Awasthi has also raised the question “whether the killing of Vikas Dubey is done in revenge and in a cold-blooded manner and the same requires investigation by an independent agency. The police plan to kill him at least 12 hours before the encounter.”

PUCL has also submitted that despite the judgment provided by the Supreme Court in the case of ‘PUCL  vs Maharastra’, the state is not following the apex court.

PUCL has asked the court for a special investigation on the encounter of Vikas Dubey, Amar Dubey, and Prabhat Mishra.  Awasthi has also asked for the appointment of the CBI or NIA for action against the police in the Kanpur encounter case.

PUCL has asked commitee of constitution which is directed by a retired judge of Supreme Court for an enquiry into the encounter which was taken place in the Uttar Pradesh and the criminal –politician nexus which exists in the state.

Excluding the above petitions, several other petitions have placed before the Chief Justice, in the form of a letter of petitions  and also in front of the Allahabad High Court, requires an independent investigation for the fake encounter of Vikas Dubey and his associates
