(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: The ICMR has reiterated in its advisory that plasma trials were done in the country and found that plasma therapy is not beneficial for corona patients. The ICMR also said in its advisory that not only India but China and the Netherlands have also found the same. A new advisory has been issued regarding plasma therapy for the treatment of patients. In the new advisory, ICMR has said that plasma therapy is not for everyone. The Advisory of ICMR came after the meeting of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the Delhi Government.
Actually, plasma is being given to corona patients on a large scale, after which the Union Home Ministry had asked to issue new guidelines regarding its use.
According to the advisory of ICMR, the category of people who donated plasma has been made. According to the new advisory, now people can donate plasma only with the following conditions:
- Men, women (who have never become pregnant)
- Those between the age of 18 to 65
- Those weighing more than 50 kg
- Those who have corona infection confirmed by RT-PCR
- Those who have symptoms of corona disease have been gone for 14 days (the only negative report is not enough)
- Have IgG antibodies in the blood
It has also been clarified in the advisory that who can take plasma-
- Those who have corona disease in the initial stage.
- 3-7 days after onset of symptoms but not more than 10 days.
- There are no IgG antibodies against the corona (this can be seen from the appropriate test)
- Informing the patient and obtaining his consent
