Nearly 200 invitees including Union ministers, MPs, and religious leaders attended the groundbreaking ceremony held at the national capital Delhi on Thursday

India’s top engineering, construction, and procurement company Tata projects have bagged the contract to construct the new parliament complex

Ratan Tata has also attended the ceremony

The new parliament building is believed to be a four-storied construction. The new building which is said to be worth 11,000 crores would seat members which will be increased to 1,224 members during joint sessions

Narendra Modi addressed the media after the groundbreaking ceremony. He called the day, a day of pride for the Indians as the country is witnessing the groundbreaking ceremony

Though the foundation ceremony was laid for the new parliament building, the construction cannot be started as of now. The case on the new parliament complex is going on in the supreme court
