(Pooja Dubey, Intern Journalist) The Police Memorial Day 2020 program has started in the police line located in the capital Lucknow. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has reached the venue. The Chief Minister, while addressing, paid tribute to the martyrs.
CM Yogi said that nine soldiers of Uttar Pradesh Police have been martyred in 2019-20. He assured the martyr’s family that the government stands with him. 26 crores was given to the families of 122 martyrs. The CM said that in the Bikeru case, one crore rupees were given to the martyred police personnel instead of 50 lakhs. Various medals were awarded on 26 January and 15 August to boost morale.
During this time, CM Yogi counted the work done for the police. He said that there is zero tolerance towards the culprits, 125 miscreants were killed in the encounter, while 2607 were injured. All the criminals are in jail or killed. Meanwhile, CM Yogi praised the work done by the police force, saying that the police played an important role in dealing with Covid. 3687 posts have been created for the women battalion. Martyrs across the country Today police martyrs across the country were remembered. A total of 264 police personnel have been martyred during their duty from 1 September 2019 to 31 October 2020. This includes a total of 9 police personnel from UP. Of these, eight martyrs are from the shootout in Bikeru in Kanpur alone.
