(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); Pollution is the reason for one out of eight deaths in Europe. According to the study, 2012 data, including 27 countries of the European Union and the UK, showed that 6.30 million deaths were related to the environment in some way. Pollution was seen to have a major impact on the health of the elderly and children.
Pollution has been attributed to cancer and heart diseases. According to the Copenhagen-based research agency EEA, four million people die prematurely due to air pollution in Europe. People are getting asthma-like diseases due to bad air-breathing. Apart from this, diabetes, lung disease, and cancer are also being linked to it. Similarly, due to prolonged time in noise, 12,000 people are dying annually in Europe.
