(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): Former IPS Annamalai Kuppusamy has joined BJP. Received BJP membership in the presence of Annamalai Kuppusamy Party General Secretary P Muralidhar Rao and Tamil Nadu BJP President L Murgun at BJP headquarters in Delhi.
Former IPS Annamalai Kuppusamy is popularly known as the ‘Singham’ of Karnataka. The BJP tweeted, “Annamalai P Muralidhar Rao and L Murgun have joined BJP in the presence of former IPS officer K Annamalai. Annamalai Kuppusamy is considered an honest, brave, and well-mannered officer. Because of his popularity only when he was transferred as Udupi and Chikmagalur SP, the local people opposed it.
Annamalai Kuppasamy resigned from the police service in 2019. Although he did not say anything about joining politics at that time, D Roopa, Home Secretary of the Government of Karnataka, said that he has decided to enter politics.
