(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Washington: Indian-American MP Pramila Jayapal has been elected to chair the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC).
Pramila Jayapal’s name has been included among the more powerful US lawmakers for the 117th Congress. Pramila Jayapal has been elected to the House of Representatives for the third consecutive time. Pramila Jaipal of the Democratic Party defeated the Republican Party’s Craig Keller from the seventh Congress constituency in Washington state by 70 percent. Pramila Jaipal, 55, born in Chennai, was selected on Wednesday. She said that the caucus is going towards racial justice, eradicating poverty, and inequality, it will help change the country.
Jayapal further said, ‘Our caucus will be really a relief for the families here. Apart from this, poverty and inequality will be removed from here. Shee said, ‘I feel very honored to have given my colleagues such an important place.’ 78-year-old Joe Biden will be sworn in as the 46th President of the US on 20 January.
