(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: Bhoomi Poojan of the new Parliament House has started. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is laying the foundation for this. The new Parliament building is targeted to be completed by October 2022, so that the Parliament session can be held in the new building on the 75th anniversary of the country’s independence.
The Lok Sabha in the new Parliament House will be three times larger than the present one. The size of the Rajya Sabha will also increase. Tata Projects Limited will construct the new Parliament building on a total area of 64,500 square meters. The design has been prepared by HCP Design, Planning and Management Private Limited.
According to officials of the Ministry of Urban Affairs, the new Parliament House will be built in 2022 to coincide with the sensations and aspirations of the new India on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of independence. The new Parliament House will be built keeping in mind the needs of the next hundred years so that there will be no difficulty in increasing the number of MPs in the future. According to the ministry, the new parliament building will be equipped with state-of-the-art technological facilities like a solar power system. The new Parliament House adjacent to the existing Parliament House will be equipped with state-of-the-art security facilities.
The design plan includes a constitution hall that will be open to the general public. In addition, the new building will have a lounge, library, several committee rooms, dining areas, parking space, comfortable seating, and emergency evacuation for members of Parliament. This building will be seismic. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform Bhoomi Pujan of the new Parliament House today.
