But the final decision on the reopening of college was not made in the first meeting. The next meeting of the council will be held on January 4
Though schools will resume from January 4, it seems that colleges will take some more time to resume in Pune. After covid 19 flattening its curve in Maharashtra and the city as well, the state government permitted to reopen the schools for classes 9 to 12. Now, there are rising demands to resume the colleges which are shut for over nine months lockdown
Many issues were discussed during the meeting chaired on Wednesday. How student’s health will-taken care of, the seating arrangement of students, lab practicals, and other issues were discussed. It was also discussed that colleges for final year students will be reopened first
Meanwhile, the SPPU has already spoken with principals of various colleges for the resumption. On the other side, students who still are dealing with internet problems while online learning are waiting for colleges to reopen at least for practical work
One of the engineering students who wished to remain unnamed said, ” it’s been over seven months now, we are waiting for the resumption of college, being an engineering student, it is difficult to learn practical work via theory “
