(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) Bharatpur: Gujjars have once again started agitation for the backlog of Backward Classes (MBC) in Rajasthan, including the recruitment of backlog, five percent reservation, and other demands. On Sunday, around 220 buses from five major roadways depots Dausa, Hindaun, Karauli, Bharatpur, and Bayana were stopped. At the same time, Internet services are closed in many tehsils of Bharatpur, Karauli, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, and Jaipur districts.

The people of Colonel Kirori Singh Bainsla’s group sat on a dharna on the railway track on Sunday.
Their strike continues even today. One protester said, ‘This time our delegation will not go anywhere to negotiate with the government. If the government wants to talk, they can come on the railway track and meet us.’ Internet service is closed in several tehsils of Bharatpur, Karauli, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, and Jaipur districts due to Gurjar agitation. The protesters uprooted the fishplates of the Delhi-Mumbai railway track. Due to this, 60 trains including 40 freight trains were diverted on Sunday. Delhi-Mumbai trains had to divert and two trains had to be canceled.

The Gurjar community, which is protesting for reservation, has reiterated its demand for a five percent reservation from the Ashok Gehlot government of the state. Apart from this, they agreed to the agreement and manifesto to remove backlog recruitments, provide government jobs and compensation to the families of those killed in the reservation movement, include the reservation bill in the Ninth Schedule. They are also demanding to give regular pay – scale and give a budget for development schemes in Dev Narayan Yojana. Sports Minister Ashok Chandna went on Sunday to talk to Colonel Bainsla on behalf of the Ashok Gehlot-led government but had to return to Jaipur empty-handed. Bainsla says that I got a call from Chief Minister Gehlot. He has promised to talk in detail. The Chief Minister has assured us to fulfill the demands of the Gurjar community at the earliest. So we should trust them once more.
