(Deepshikha Gautam, Intern Journalist) New Delhi: The taste of Bottle Water is going to change. The Food Safety Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has issued new guidelines for water bottles. After this, the method of preparing all packaged water will be changed. Following the FSSAI’s new guidelines, companies producing packaged water will have to add 20 mg of calcium and 10 mg of magnesium in a bottle of water.
Minerals are considered good for health, so the National Green Tribunal (NGT) had asked FSSAI to explore the possibilities of mixing certain minerals in packaging water.
The NGT said that in the process of filtering water, it was necessary to remove the minerals so that they could be made safe for drinking, they should be re-poured for the benefit of consumers. The original order of the NGT came on 29 May 2019. Companies were granted two times to implement it, but now the government has fixed the deadline of 31 December 2020 to implement this order.
Therefore, the new rule will come into force from the new year i.e. 1 January 2021.
FSSAI has already given a formula for making new products in a current way.
