(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): On July 19, after watching five planets and the moon together, get ready to witness Saturn on July 20 when it comes into opposition at its brightest and closest to Earth. Also, the period a planet is in opposition means it’s the best time of the year to see it.
As Earth moves between the planet and the Sun, the planet is normally nearest to Earth and this year’s brightest. At 10 pm UTC, Saturn will be in opposition, or at 3:30 am IST. Opposite of the Sun, Saturn is visible with naked eyes, at the brightest all night. But if you’re lucky with clear skies it’s not going to be tough to find. Don’t forget watching the planets ‘queen’ because it’s all close to Earth.
