Satya completed 22 years, it was released on 3 July 1998. The film was directed by ram Gopal Varma written by Saurabh Shukla and Anurag Kashyap. J.D Chakravarthy, Manoj Bajpayee, Urmila Matondkar, Saurabh Shukla, and Shefali Shah were in the lead roles. It’s the most celebrated crime film, considered to be one of the classics of Indian cinema.
The film was critically acclaimed because of its realistic depiction of the Indian underworld. This movie has redefined the crime genre in Indian cinema and also paved the way for the career of many especially for Manoj Bajpayee and Anurag Kashyap. The film was declared a flop upon release, a bit turned out to be a sleeper hit.
Manoj Bajpayee shared his happiness by sharing 2 photos from the film and wrote “And my life changed…!!! Anurag Kashyap also tweeted, “Satya has completed 22 years, GOW has completed 8 years, now I am old. Let’s move forward and do something else, and I have to make more and more movies.
It won six Filmfare Awards, including all three Critics Awards. It also received four Star Screen Awards. Bajpayee also received the National Film Award for the best supporting actor.
