SCBA strongly condemns Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s letter against Justice Ramana

(Anjali Shreya, Intern Journalist): The Executive Committee of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) issued a statement strongly condemning the letter written by Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy to the Chief Justice of India, in which he has accused Justice NV Ramana’s interference in the judicial administration of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

The committee has said, “Such acts of the constitutional office-bearers are against the practice and serious interference which affects the independence of the judiciary in the Indian constitution.”

It has also opposed the release of the letter into the public domain, as it may affect judicial independence.  The Bar Council of India, Supreme Court Advocate on Records Association, and Delhi High Court Bar Association have also issued a statement condemning the Chief Minister’s move.  The Andhra Pradesh High Court has issued a CBI inquiry order in the cases registered by YSR Congress party leaders for making derogatory remarks against the judiciary.
