(Riya Singh, Intern Journalist): The new UN General Assembly president declared on Sunday that he is postponing a planned visit to Pakistan due to certain technical flight problems.
Turkish diplomat Volkan Bozkir was elected president of last month’s 75th session of the UN General Assembly and was expected to arrive in Islamabad on Sunday. But in a Twitter post, he said that the visit will have to wait. In response to Bozkir, Pakistan’s foreign minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi tweeted that “I look forward to welcoming you to Pakistan soon for a constructive and fruitful visit.” A day earlier, a jubilant Qureshi had hoped he would discuss a number of issues with Bozkir when announcing the tour.
