(Manisha Mahar, Intern Journalist); The central government has spent Rs 393 crore since 2014 on the advertisement of Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme. Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani gave this information in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday. In response to a question, she told the Upper House that till September 17 in the financial year 2020-21, Rs 96.71 lakh has been spent on the advertisement for this scheme.
Irani said that according to an assessment conducted by the National Council for Applied Economic Research in August, the scheme has led to a positive change in people’s behavior towards girls. She said that the objective of this scheme is to change the mindset of the people towards the girl child.
