The business had come to a standstill since trains were closed in the Corona transition period. Now, since the start of unlocking, with the Corona Covid special trains smugglers have once again started operating gold smuggling business. In this episode, after getting information from the informant, the team, which has been active, has finally recovered three gold bricks from the smuggler in PDDU junction Chandauli.

Varanasi unit of the Revenue Intelligence Directorate team, on the information of the informer, took action from 02301 Howrah-New Delhi Covid special train and recovered three bricks of gold. According to officials, smugglers have been smuggling huge amounts of gold on this route. The smuggled gold bricks of foreign origin are being transported from Howrah (Kolkata) to New Delhi and Lucknow (UP). The DRI has arrested two smugglers in this case. According to officials, the arrest was on Tuesday night. The smuggler was said to be a resident of Sultanpur district. During the search, three bricks of foreign gold weighing one kilogram (approx) each were recovered from him. During interrogation, smugglers told that the gold bricks were taken to Kolkata via Myanmar from where it was being sent to Lucknow and New Delhi. At the same time, the team seized the recovered gold and arrested both the accused persons.

After getting the information from the informer, the Varanasi unit team of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence was alerted to inquire about the two smugglers traveling on the respective seat in 02301 Howrah-New Delhi Covid Special train and check their belongings, then three gold bricks were recovered from them. At the same time, the team has already started investigating the case of the accused traveling and consuming gold and smuggling it across the country. According to the team, due to the high demand for gold on Diwali, smugglers started smuggling as soon as they started unlocking and got caught due to being informative on time.

Mastermind also arrested

Two smugglers from Howrah-New Delhi Covid-19 AC Special Mail B-2 coach were arrested on Tuesday night. The smugglers are residents of Sultanpur. The news spread like wildfire due to the huge amount of gold recovered from the junction. This action took place in a stealthy manner. On the other hand, the DRI team refused to disclose the names of the smugglers. After interrogating the smugglers arrested from the junction, the team got much important information, the team also raided together in Lucknow and Patna. 1.1 crore Indian rupees and foreign currency equal to 5.45 lakhs has also been recovered in the action. The team has also arrested the mastermind. Investigations are being conducted at various places in Kolkata, Sultanpur, Lucknow for investigation at other places.
