Mohammad Rafi was born on 24 December 1924 in Kotla Sultan Singh village, Punjab. Born in the family of Hazi Ali Muhammad, Mohammad Rafi is the second of six siblings. He was called Feiko in his house. In 1935, Rafi’s father moved to Lahore and started shaving in the Noor Locality of Bhatti gate there. 8 years after the death of Mohammad Rafi, his wife Bilkis Rafi told interesting things about him in the interview. Bilkis’s elder sister was married to Rafi’s elder brother. At that time, Bilkis was 13 years old and giving her a 6th-grade exam. Her sister told me that you are married to Rafi tomorrow. Then she did not even know the meaning of marriage. Rafi was 19 years old at the time of marriage. Mohammad Rafi did not like publicity at all. Whenever he used to go to a wedding, he used to ask the driver to remain the same. Rafi used to go directly to the married couple and congratulate them and then get into his car. He did not stop at the wedding even for a while. Apart from singing, Rafi was fond of Badminton and flying kites.
