(Namita Pradhan, Intern Journalist) Karnataka; Covid-19 infections in which over 60% cases in Karnataka, the source of the infections remains unknown due to the lack of contact tracing efforts and insufficient resources.

The total 38,643 cases till Sunday out of which 24,064 cases were held under investigation according to the war room report of Karnataka state Covid-19 cases.

3658 cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe acute respiratory infection cases are 617 are sub-classified as under investigation, according to the report.

Every new case reported the ‘contact under tracing was classified’ which makes the process as ongoing. Due to a lack of infrastructure and resources, the contract tracing process becomes slow and leads to an increase in Covid-19 infections.

The state government has built new infrastructure and beds for the hospitals to treat Covid-19 patients. Many teams were assigned for several works.

So looking forward to the growing cases the Yediyurappa government has imposed the lockdown despite requests of not to do so. The fresh curb has led many to leave the state which increased the risk of spreading the virus to other districts of the state.
